Keep your audience listening

It is quite common for a listener to take a little mental vacation when you are speaking. In order to keep an audience listening you should try to add a few “attention getting phrases”.

Try some of these in your next communication:

  • …this may surprise you…
  • … something you will find interesting…
  • …the most important…
  • ….it’s worth keeping in mind…
  • Let me put it in simple terms
  • Let me explain
  • You might ask why I say that
  • I believe/feel/think…
